People can contact us directly to get help, but we also receive referrals from the police, housing providers, local authorities, schools, youth services, probation, other criminal justice agencies, social services, and statutory and voluntary agencies.
If you’d like to refer someone, please click on the link that best describes their situation below once a referral form has been submitted and received, we will:
1
Assess the case and allocate a caseworker
Our caseworker will contact you and the person or people you have referred. They may need to ask some additional questions to get all the information they need.
2
Allocate two of our practitioners
Once we have all the information and everyone is happy to proceed, we will arrange to meet with people individually. These meetings can be in someone’s home, workplace, or other accessible and neutral venue, or can also be online via Zoom.
The aim of the meetings is to find out more about what has happened, how people are feeling, and if our services will meet the needs of the people referred. Often more than one meeting is needed to get to this point.
3
Arrange direct or indirect communication
If we all agree and think it’s suitable, we will arrange for our practitioners to help people to communicate directly or indirectly with each other. This could be through a face-to-face or online meeting, from us going backwards and forwards between the different parties (shuttle) or through letters or an audio/video recording.
4
Work with individuals
We may continue to work with individuals to help reach a good outcome, or if we do not assess direct or indirect communication as being suitable, we may provide some coaching.
5
Keep you updated
We will continue to keep you updated as the case progresses, until it reaches closure point.
Very good training course. Throughly enjoyed it and didn’t feel talked at.

Our neighbour would not take part, so we met with the Practitioners for some Conflict Coaching. It really helped to be listened to and to explore how we should move forward from a situation that we previously thought we had no control over.

The Restorative Justice process had the effect of validating and acknowledging the feelings and impact the crime had on me, and that I had the right to feel the way I did.
– Victim
Restorative Justice services
The patience of the Restorative Justice Practitioners helped me to work out what I needed and what I wanted to hear. It helped me to understand how I’d feel if I didn’t get the answers I wanted.

This session I had with you about conflict resolution was not what I was expecting, it was better. Thank you for your perspective on me and my situation. It has helped me give myself the permission I needed to let go, and stop obsessing on the issues with my neighbour.

Since I spoke to my neighbour, she has been thinking about her neighbours and how her actions impact other people’s lives. I hope she keeps it up. Thank you so much for your help.

Restorative Justice worked for me. I had tried lots of things that’d helped but it hadn’t gone away. I felt better and have continued to feel better each day. It was like a light switch for me.

Prison took away my responsibility because I just sat in my cell, got three meals a day and did what I wanted. I didn’t grow from it, but Restorative Justice is something I chose to do to change my life, to grow and to face up to my responsibilities.

I just wanted to apologise for my behaviour and reassure them that I would never be a threat to them ever again. It really broke my heart. I thought about the victim, I thought about the impact, and it touched me. I knew I needed to make amends and say sorry.
